Lidaris participates in OASIS8 conference

2022.11.01 | Events

Lidaris participates in OASIS8 – an international conference on Optics & Electro-Optics. We are happy to share our knowledge and experience at this event. Dr. Justinas Galinis will speak about Photothermal Common-Path Interferometry (PCI): Towards Non-Destructive Testing of Functional Damage in CW Regime.

Save the date:
December: 12-15
Tel Aviv, Israel

ELECTRO-OPTICS IN INDUSTRY

In a long-pulse or continuous-wave (CW) regime, optical elements tend to distort the wavefront of transmitted or reflected irradiation due to strong thermal effects: changes in refraction index or thermal expansion. In other words, optical laser elements might lose their specified (functional) performance even below Laser-Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT). Approximate limit, where the optical element loses functional performance can be regarded as a “Functional” Laser-Induced Damage Threshold (or F-LIDT). The main reason for such distortion is thermal heat due to absorption losses of irradiation in the optical element, characterized by the absorptance coefficient. Accordingly, characterized absorptance coefficient might be a good predictor variable for the functional performance of optical elements in the CW regime. If that got you interested, save the date to hear the talk!

Photothermal Common-Path Interferometry (PCI) measurements are available at Lidaris.
